I wanted to share something exciting that we’ve been working on this year. It's my pleasure to introduce you to the Spanish version of the Oliver + S Building Block Dress! You might remember that over the last couple of years, I've been putting in a lot of effort to improve my Spanish. Progress has been slow but steady, and I'm excited to join a conversation class this fall to take my skills to the next level. However, translating an entire book is beyond my current capabilities, which is why we’re incredibly fortunate to have had such a fantastic team supporting us.
Introducing the Spanish edition of *OLIVER + S: DESIGN AND SEW GIRLS' DRESSES*! This book guides readers through the process of modifying and customizing sewing patterns based on a basic block pattern. As many of you already know, I've been diligently studying Spanish for quite some time now. While I’m still improving, my current vocabulary and grammar allow me to communicate effectively, though not yet at a translator’s level. That’s where our amazing team came in.
Our Spanish publisher, Editorial El Drac, has been absolutely fantastic to collaborate with. They’ve ensured that the Spanish edition maintains the same feel and structure as the original English version. From guiding us through metric conversions to embracing our suggestions and improvements, they’ve been incredible partners every step of the way. I’m particularly grateful to my dear friends Miren Herrero Llorente and Maria Fernandez de Castro from Telaria for their invaluable assistance in making this book appealing and accessible to the Spanish sewing community. Miren especially dedicated countless hours to perfecting the final product. I can’t wait to fully dive into it myself once my Spanish improves further!
