The economic downturn Bill Blass shut down
For a few weeks, Bill Blass, to which NexCen belongs, has a worrying outlook. There is now official news: This brand will be closed. "The New York Times" reported that the company will close the exhibition hall on Seventh Avenue and cut 30 posts by Friday. Michael Vollbracht has been designing this line from 2003 to 2007. He told The New York Times that he had heard that the company had to make a decision to shut down due to the economic downturn. He sighed: "The end of Bill Blass is not just a message of grief. It is also an unexpected wake-up call for this industry."
In fact, this brand has been turbulent for the past six months. Peter Som left, and NexCen could not find a buyer. Due to internal uncertainties in the company, retailers did not buy Som's 2009 spring series. NexCen is still trying to sell the brand and hopes that the platform will be reborn in someone’s hands.
